Cameras next to everything else

Cameras usually live in an app of their own, which is why checking the back door means leaving whatever you were doing. In Flick a camera is just another device class, so it sits on the dashboard next to the porch light — and the porch light is one tap away when you see something.

On the tile

A camera tile shows the most recent thumbnail, refreshed in the background, plus whether the camera is currently armed. Tapping it opens the camera in full.

In the camera view

• Live view — on-demand video, full screen, with the stream torn down again when you leave so nothing runs in the background needlessly.
• Arm and disarm — turn motion detection and recording on or off.
• Snapshot — ask the camera for a fresh still right now.
• Record a clip — start a recording on demand.
• Floodlight — for camera models that have one; it also appears as its own switch on the dashboard, so it can be part of a scene.

Your clip library

Recordings get a page of their own, newest first, with infinite scroll and a lookback filter so you can go from “the last day” to “the last month” without loading everything. You can browse the clips from a single camera, or every camera at once from a dedicated Recordings tile that shows the newest clip, a 24-hour count and a thumbnail — and place that tile on the dashboard like any other.

Clips play back in the app, and deleted clips are filtered out rather than left as dead entries in the list.

Live video and clip playback use the platform’s native video player, so they are available in the phone, tablet and desktop apps.
