Sun Catcher has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no servers. There is nothing to log in to and nothing to opt out of.

What stays on your phone

Your location. Used to work out the sun’s path and the magnetic declination where you are standing. It is held on the device and never transmitted. You can skip the permission entirely and type coordinates in instead.

Your skyline and your saved aim. Stored on the device so they are still there next time you open the app. Deleting the app deletes them.

Camera. The skyline sweep shows the camera view so you can see the treeline you are tracing. No photograph is taken, saved or analysed — the angles come from the phone’s motion sensors, and only the centre of the frame is used.

What leaves your phone

Nothing. The app makes no network requests in normal use. The magnetic model, the solar calculations and the energy model all run on the device, which is why it works with no signal.

Children

Sun Catcher collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this ever stops being true, the change will be described here and in the app before it takes effect.
